Dye Pro Carpet Dyeing & Restoration understand we all love our furry pets. However, we certainly don’t love what dogs and cats do to our carpets; from sweat, drool and vomit to urine and feces stains. Urine stains and odors in particular can be quite long lasting and overwhelming; especially when store bought, over the counter pet odor removal products have failed to provide effective results.
Types Of Dog & Cat Urine Odor Remover & Neutralizer Products
Pet Urine Masking Agents – As suggested by the name, a masking agent simply masks the odor temporarily. Masking agents need to be applied over and over again without treating the source of the smell. This is expensive and leaves behind a sticky residue that attracts dirt like a magnet and shortens the life of your carpet. In short, masking agents make the offending pet urine stain even harder to remove than if you did nothing!
Pet Odor Pairing Agents – This method uses a pairing agent to cancel out the offending odor. The problem once again though is that pairing agents don’t treat the source of the pet odor being the urine stain itself.
Pet Urine Enzymatic Cleaning Agents – Enzymes are good bacteria and their job is to break down and destroy bad bacteria such as found in pet urine that causes carpet odors. Enzymes are an excellent choice in pet odor removal and are one of the products Dye Pro Carpet Dyeing & Restoration utilizes in our arsenal when we attack pet urine stains and odors.
How We Get Rid of Pet Urine Carpet Odors
Topical Pet Odor Removal – Our topical pet odor removal process utilizes a custom product that helps to break down the urine and urine salt crystals so they can more easily be removed from your carpet. We apply the pet odor removal product topically and allow it the necessary time to work most effectively. We then use our sub surface extraction tool to remove the urine residue from the carpet face yarn, backing and padding. We treat the affected areas multiple times as necessary until no more urine is coming out of the carpet. We then treat any remaining stains with our specialty spotting products.
Carpet Restoration Pet Odor Removal – Dye Pro Carpet Dyeing & Restoration recommends this process when cats or dogs have marked or urinated in the same areas repeatedly. This most often means that the urine has soaked through not just the carpet, backing and padding but is also now being absorbed into the sub floor. The first step we take is to disengage the carpet and pull it back so that we can identify the problem areas from the back of the carpet. We then remove the padding and proceed to clean and treat the sub floor with a sealing product that does not allow the urine to penetrate back through. This leaves the urine contained. Once the sealing product dries, we treat the carpet backing and face yarns in a similar manner to our topical odor removal process outlined above. Next we replace the carpet pad and reinstall the carpet. Finally we clean the carpet and treat any remaining stains. If the urine has caused any color loss to your carpet, Dye Pro Carpet Dyeing & Restoration will recommend our color restoration and full room carpet dyeing services to correct this issue.
